Overview

BlackCat is a modern restaurant based in the Tenderloin of San Francisco.  BlackCat is for glamour lovers of all ages. It appeals to sensibilities rather than age: stylish, educated, smart and urban. BlackCat attracts people interested in good food,  spending time with friends over drinks, and enjoying the rituals of dining out in unexpected and unusual places.

 

Challenge

With this target audience in mind, Rai was responsible for creating a visual brand expression and environmental design for the restaurant. This included a logo exploration, restaurant look/feel, and interior design direction.

 

Solution

Playing off the name of the restaurant, a bold, sexy, indulgent visual system was created utilizing the unique beauty of a cat’s eye. Green, gold, blue or yellow, cats' eyes are fascinating orbs that gleam in darkness. That mysterious shine is visible even in dim light. With this in mind, the design used vibrant pops of color to contrast dark backgrounds; best executing the glamorous, sultry feel of BlackCat.
